before and after - renovation project library

Wooohooo! One of our many renovation projects is totally finished now! YES!

When we first bought the house (2007-2008), next to the living room there were two small rooms. One in pink (aaaghrrr) and one in blue. It looked like this:
Almost immediately we knocked the wall down between those little rooms, planning on making our 'library' there (because of the huge amount of books we have) and also our 'office'. And... it stayed this way (see photo) for a long time. We just closed the door so we didn't have to see the mess. It was not until our renovation that we started in September of this year, we got to finish our library!
And here it is!
WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! This looks amazing! Doesn't it!? Even Boris has found a place as you can see on the photo! You can hardly imagine that this beautiful room were once two ugly rooms in pink and blue!
Oh well, now it's off to the next project. The living room!

almost done!

Well, not quite 'almost done' as there will be a lot of work waiting for us in the inside of the house, but look at this! Doesn't our new front of the house look great, or what!? The new bricks are hardly different that the ones at the top, right? And those leaded lights in the windows are fantastic! Our whole town (well, it's a little town) are calling out oh's and ah's and saying 'what an improvement!' Yep, we think so to and we are very happy with the way our house looks now. Soon I will post a before and after photo, so you will see how it looked before we started this renovation.

I think today will be the last day of the constructors working at our place. Sure Boris (our dachshund) will gonna miss them as during lunch time he got a lot of treats! But then it's our turn on renovation. We sure will have some painting and decorating to do! Hopefully will be ready by Christmas!

renovation in progress

For 2 weeks our house looks like a total disaster, but now we are getting there. Surely but slowly the front is getting a new look. The window frames are now placed and already there is some brickwork done, but the top front of our house is still on its own!
But not only the front of our house is a total walk through at this moment, this week the back window was also replaced. For two days that was open also! From front to back an 'open' house! It was a bit scarry, that's for sure! Luckily we live in a nice neighborhood as it was very inviting to burglars, we had also a lot of bad weather! Thank God, the back is now closed with a new window!
So I have to embrace myself just a little bit. It won't be long now till the front is closed too. But then... boy, do we have a lot of work to do! Aaaaaghr...

our house... in the middle of the street

Is a... HORROR!

Well, I told you about a renovation of our house that was coming up. And it's even worse than I thought it would be. We actually 'live' in this disaster as the renovation goes on and the place looks like it's going to collapse any minute!

The top front of our house rests on nothing more than some beams, it kind of hangs there with nothing underneath it. Every time a truck goes by, the house shivers and shakes and I just hold my breath and pray that it won't all come down!
